On October 23, 2014, the American global aerospace and defense technology company Northrop Grumman was awarded a defense contract worth over $207 Million. The Marine Corps Systems Command, located in Quantico, Virginia, granted the award which is actually an adjustment to an earlier contract that was made in 2009. The previous contract in 2009, worth $40 Million, called for Northrop Grumman Corp to procure four Ground/Air-Task-Oriented Radar (G/ATOR) low-rate initial production systems.This new system will provide a three-dimensional, multi-role radar system which is designed to identify rockets, artillery, cruise missiles, mortars, unmanned aircraft systems, and any other low observable targets. On October 16, 2014, the British aerospace equipment engineering company, Meggitt PLC, announced their new contract to build a new Simulation System for the U.S. Army. Ordered with the intent to improve the quality of training soldiers and the effectiveness of training instructors, this new simulation system will be a next-generation virtual small arms trainer running on a new upgraded system.This system, dubbed the FATS M100 system, will replace the currently used EST 2000 system. Features of the new FATS M100 system include an open architecture that will allow the use of both Meggitt and third-party training modules.
