Oshkosh Upgrades Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected M-ATVs for US Army

The American industrial company Oshkosh Corporation was recently awarded a base contract plus options for work on current vehicles. With a value of over USD$77 million, the contract calls for Oshkosh to reset 800 Mine-Resistant Ambush-Protected (MRAP) All-Terrain Vehicles (M-ATVs). Awarded by the United States Army, this programs looks to standardize the entire M-ATV fleet configuration. In addition, the contract will guarantee that the MRAP platform is 100% mission ready, even after years of operation in theater.

Originally granted on August 6, 2014, the base contract was for the reset of 500 M-ATV vehicles. On December 12, 2014, three more contract options were awarded to Oshkosh Corporation for the reset of an additional 300 M-ATVs—grand totaling 800 M-ATV vehicles. The M-ATV reset process includes vehicle evaluation, complete repairs, missing part replacement, and several upgrade kits. All resets work toward bringing each vehicle to the existing set up for each M-ATV variants in the fleet. Additional upgrades include underbody improvement, upgraded automatic fire extinguishing systems, and various safety related improvements. Work is expected to be completed with deliveries by September 2015.

The M-ATV production contract was granted to Oshkosh in June of 2009 for lifecycles service and support of the vehicles until July 2018. Since the start of the program, Oshkosh has produced over 8,700 M-ATVs.
