BAE Systems completes successful missile trials

BAE Systems plc. has successfully completed trials involving their air-to-surface MBDA Brimstone missiles and their Eurofighter Typhoon Jet.

The trials for the fighter aircraft took place in Lancashire, United Kingdom. The weapon contains a launcher loaded with three missiles, and is connected to a ground system that it communicates with. It uses an avionics system to transmit signals between the launcher and the software.

I am delighted that the ground rig trials have been successfully completed as we progress towards integrating these precision strike weapons onto our Typhoon aircraft. Brimstone offers laser-guided precision technology which will boost Typhoon’s capability and it is currently proving its worth in the fight against Daesh in Iraq and Syria.

stated Philip Dunne, Minister for Defense Procurement, about the combat aircraft.

The United Kingdom’s government has been spending heavily on bomber attack aircraft technology recently, as evidenced by these extensive trails.

These trials are another example of how the Ministry of Defense is investing its £178 billion over the next ten years in providing state of the art equipment for the Armed Forces.

Dunne continued.

The trials are executed in part by MBDA, Eurofighter, and their partners. It is part of the testing process for P3E’s campaign. Technical Manager at Phase 3 Enchantment, felt the same way about the achievement, thinking this bodes well for future tests.

The ground rig trials are a key milestone in the integration of the Brimstone weapon on to Typhoon and we are delighted they have been successful. While testing of the software will largely be performed using a Brimstone simulator, it is vital to ensure that there is successful communication between the weapon and the aircraft.

he said.

This will now mark the start of preliminary test on the initial software in the rig.
