AMI Industries, Inc.: Seating for Safety

AMI Industries specializes in the development, production, and servicing of emergency evacuation systems, seating systems, life rafts and training equipment, and literature pockets for commercial aircrafts. Based in Colorado, the company was incorporated in 1987. The company was previously a subsidiary of Goodrich Corporation’s Interiors division under Special Seating Systems.

However, in 2012, Goodrich Co. was acquired by United Technologies Corporation (UTC) and the company is now a subsidiary of UTC Aerospace Systems – Interior Divisions. The company is one of Colorado Springs largest manufacturers with about 385 full-time employees.UTC Aerospace Interiors is notable for their Air Force ACES II ejection seat system which operates on all Air Force F-15, F-16, F-22, A-10, B-1 and B-2 aircraft. They also produce Energy Attenuating Passenger Seats (EAPS) which are helicopter seats designed to maximize protection in the event of a crash.

The patented energy attenuator is a system that adjusts automatically according to the passenger’s weight range, reducing the likelihood of the passenger selecting incorrect settings. EAPS are used on UH-1Y and A2C2S Blackhawks. If you require any parts for AMI Industries products, please go to our website Just NSN Parts, a division of ASAP Semiconductor.
